The Cameron Park Rotary Community Observatory,
a major community project was completed in 2006 in
celebration of Rotary International's 100th
anniversary. The Observatory is FREE to all
visitors, but DONATIONS are most certainly welcome
to support the maintenance of the facility and
telescopes.
Patterned after the public
observatory in Bidwell Park in Chico, the Community
Observatory features two 14-inch telescopes that
bring our galaxy to life and offer excellent viewing
of celestial phenomena.
Partners of the Community
Observatory are Folsom Lake College/El Dorado Center
and the El Dorado County Office of Education.
In addition, many community agencies companies and
individuals participated in the creation and
operation of this project. Because of its
unique educational value, the Community Observatory
is adjacent to Folsom Lakes College's El Dorado
Center in Placerville. Its governing board is
composed of members from Cameron Park Rotary Club,
Folsom Lake College/El Dorado Center and the El
Dorado County Office of Education. |
